Look what I just received!!! Our Etsy customer received her bench and she loves it! 🎉

Receiving positive feedback and reviews like this makes me SO happy!! It makes all the difficult jobs and all the blood, sweat, and tears that go into my work worth it, ten times over. Today is a good day! 💕

It’s beginning to look at lot like Christmas! 🎶🎄🎅🏼

I may not have a tree up but did finally bust out some of the holiday decor to dress this lovely piece up for the occasion. I’ve teetered back and forth on keeping this sofa table because it looks awesome with my white couch and neutral furnishings. But, for the time being, I’m leaving it up for sale.

Bring it home to your house today for only $299! Shipping and delivery available.

We were so lucky to be able to work on TWO fabulous secretary desks for our client this month!

This charming fellow, once belonging to my clients beloved father, was given a handsome new makeover in classic navy blue on the exterior with light grey on the interior, paired with painted silver original hardware.

My clients father was known for his lovely hand written cards and letters that he so thoughtfully sent out on each and every holiday and special occasion sitting right here at this very desk. This heirloom piece has been cherished by my clients family and will now be passed down to his grandson who can continue his grandfathers legacy!

I came across this gorgeous space by @cherished_treasures_ tonight and I’m totally in love 😍 ! It’s not a secret that I LOVE neutrals in my home and that mixed with soft textiles, loads of greenery, and a beautiful tablescape it’s right up my alley!

If you didn’t already know, vintage secretary desks are one of my absolute FAVORITE pieces of furniture. Something about the elegance of the serpentine shaped front, the claw feet, and those tiny little cubbies that leave me smitten EVERY time! Not only did I get the opportunity to work on one of these beauties this month but actually two! Both from the same household and both with wonderful family history. Honestly that’s my favorite part about doing what I do, breathing life into well loved family heirlooms so that the next generation can use and enjoy them as their family before them did. So special! 💕

This black beauty was updated using my favorite General Finishes Black and custom tinted Antique White Poly. The hardware was boiled and polished using Bar Keepers Friend to bring back that brilliant brass shine 🌟. I even had a skeleton key 🔑 from D. Lawless Hardware that works on all of the locks! 📸 by my other half Mario Mineros Photography

I know I’ve been a little quiet over here but this share from Annie Sloan America today gave me some pep in my step and wanted to share!

The best part is that this piece actually ended up in a good friend’s home so I can visit it whenever I want! 😁😉

We love the artistry of Courtney Cole of Twig and Thyme Design—we couldn’t help featuring her again! Courtney beautifully layered Chalk Paint® Colors to achieve depth and contrast on this stunning chest of drawers. She started with a base of Graphite followed by Amsterdam Green. She lightly distressed the green paint to reveal the soft black underneath. She mixed a watery wash of Annie Sloan’s Napoleonic Blue for the last paint layer. The entire piece was sealed in Clear and Black Chalk Paint® Wax —the black used to accent the piece. Find more of Courtney's creations here:

Happy Friday y’all! We’re counting down the final days of our Maui vacation and heading out on another day of exploring. Visiting the central areas of the island including a lavender farm, Surfing 🏄‍♀️ Goat 🐐 Farm, and then ending the day watching the sun set from the top of the 10,000ft crater in Haleakalā National Park. 🌅🌋🐐🏄‍♀️🌴📸🌺

Sitting in the pool today talking paint and furniture with friends had me thinking of how much I actually miss my projects! (Did I really say that?! 🤣) We just barely finished this petite buffet with adorable shutter doors right before leaving for vacation and you know how much I love a fresh white piece! Full pic coming soon!

Aloha everyone! 🌺

After spending a few days in California visiting friends we headed to Maui yesterday and made it just in time to see our first Hawaiian sunset! Today we’re planning on being full on beach bums but not before sharing this gorgeous piece I’m so proud to say I finished just in time for vacation!

This was the largest piece and most time consuming finish that we’ve had to date but it turned out exactly how I hoped. This almost 7’ long 5’ tall stunner was completed using General Finishes Millstone, Dark Chocolate, and Snow White Milk Paints as well as Van Dyke Brown Glaze, Dorian Grey custom tinted poly, and High Performance Top Coat each hand applied several times in multiple techniques to achieve the blended and textured look we wanted. Isn’t she a beauty?!

Oh pinstripe glazing how I love thee! 😍 Check out the fabulous lines on this massive sideboard highlighted in @generalfinishes Van Dyke Brown Glaze. In LOVE!

Gah! Will you just look at that finish?! 😍 This was our most time consuming custom finish to date, but totally worth every second and I can’t wait to share the full results coming soon!

How beautiful is this custom tinted General Finishes poly from NOVA Design and Build?!

This color, Dorian Grey, is perfectly paired with Antique White Milk Paint glazing in all the details and a light wash and dry brushing over the surface for a hint of visual texture. We sealed the painted surfaces in General Finishes High Performance in Satin for a that gorgeous sheen! The top and bottom shelf on this entry table are adorned with a ornate metallic edge that we used Metallic Silver Rub’n Buff to update it to match the finish.

Loving this look! 😍

That’s a wrap folks!! We just finished up our last two custom orders for Sept and Mario Mineros Photography and I will be heading out on a much needed 2 week vacation tomorrow! 🎉🎉

We’ve been non-stop working 6-7 days a week for the last year focusing on growing our small businesses so it’s time to take a break to rest and relax with some of our best friends doing the other thing that we truly love - traveling!

Can you guess where we are going?? I’ll give you an emoji hint 🌴🌊🏄‍♀️🏖🥥🐋🌋🇺🇸

Happy Saturday everyone! We’re up early trying to get some spraying done before another 5 days of straight rain 🌧! To say I’m over it is an understatement.

Luckily I do still have a few hand painted projects to work on indoors like this gorgeous mirror that went from shiny gold to a more modern look using General Finishes Queenstown Grey Milk Paint paired with Antique White pinstriping, wash, and dry brushing the make those details really pop!

TGIF!! Cheers 🥂 to the weekend! Ours will be full of painting 👩‍🎨, photo shoots 📸, and hopefully some deliveries! 🚚💨

Here’s some eye candy to kick off the weekend dressed in my favorite Antique White General Finishes poly and cup pulls from D. Lawless Hardware . Man I love this look! 😍

Someone PINCH ME!!

2 months ago we had the Editor-in-Chief of Flea Market Home & Living Magazine, Lisa Marie Hart, reach out to us on Etsy regarding our work on a pair of nightstands that she saw posted on our Instagram page (@twigandthymedesign). As you can imagine I was incredibly honored that she would want to feature our work and was over-the-moon excited that this might actually happen!

Fast forward to today and I’m sitting here with the BIGGEST grin on my face staring at my work in this BEAUTIFUL nationally publicized magazine!!

Check out the video below that Mario took of me opening the package and seeing it for the first time!

Huge thank you again goes to Lisa Marie Hart for recognizing our work and making this happen, Mario Mineros Photography for always helping bring my vision to life, NOVA Design and Build for all of the fabulous General Finishes products I used for this pair, and D. Lawless Hardware for the fabulous knobs that pulled this look all together!

Have you ever heard me talk about General Finishes, NOVA Design and Build, or D. Lawless Hardware??! Well, if you haven’t, here’s your chance to know my favorite product secrets! 🤫🤣

D.Lawless hardware is your one-stop-shop for all things hardware related. From fabulous farmhouse cup pulls like the ones on this farmhouse chest, to hinges, casters, and everything in between. They have it all! They’ve been my go-to hardware source for over a year now and there’s no going back! You just can’t beat the quality and value of the products, the friendliness of the employees, or the FAST shipping!

My other favorite “new” product that I was introduced to earlier this year is General Finishes tinted poly. It’s a paint and topcoat in ONE! It has a beautiful smooth sheen, and is super durable! Lucky for me, NOVA Design & Build, the local distributor for General Finishes is right here in Sterling and they carry EVERYTHING I never knew even existed in the GF line. PLUS since they also sell and finish custom cabinetry, they have a wide range of custom tinted poly colors. Woohoo! 🎉
Not local? They ship! 📦 Check out their website or give them a call to see what custom poly colors they have today!

Who knew I could have such a love for Pie Crust Tables?! 💕We had the pleasure of working on three this past month and this one was my favorite! Will you look at those details?! 😱😍 There’s just something to be said about those sharp clean lines of General Finishes Pitch Black Glaze Effects against layers of Antique White Satin Poly. I’m in LOVE!

It’s all in the detail-glazing! 😍😍I love the sharp contrast between creamy Antique White General Finishes poly and Pitch Black Glaze Effects! Makes all those hours of tiny brush work worth it!

The weekend has arrived!! It’s raining 🌧 around here but the heat wave has taken a break and it’s going to be a cool 72 today!
We’re finally going to take a weekend off and head to visit friends down in Williamsburg. While Mario helps photograph a wedding I’ll be playing at Busch Gardens! 🎢🎠🎡🎉

What are your weekend plans?!

So many things to love in this killer detail shot!
The smooth black finish with just the right amount of wood peeking through, the vintage camera from Mario Mineros Photography’s collection, my precious 100 year old newspaper article scrolls, and greenery for days. Yes, yes, YAAASSS! 😍

That’s a wrap folks!! These lovely twins made their way home last week to live with their four other matching (white & brass) siblings that we’ve completed over the last couple months. I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t going to miss having one of these pretties around! This look was completed using General Finishes Antique White poly paired with bright brass pulls shined up with Bar Keepers Friend.

Who says you can’t wear white after Labor Day?! Not in my book! 🙋‍♀️📚I’m going to hang on to these last days of Summer until the leaves 🍁 start changing. It just went too fast and I’m not ready to bust out the fall staging yet!! 🤣

So until we can all agree that it’s officially over, enjoy this sneak peek of my favorite set of commissioned twins that made their way back to their home 🏡 last week. Their classic look was completed using layers of General Finishes Antique White Poly paired with their original vintage brass polished up with Bar Keepers Friend.

Happy Labor Day y’all!

Hope you’re enjoying it with family and friends by the pool, at the beach, or just taking the day off to relax! We’re only doing a bit of painting this morning and then will be off to visiting another painter friend in the afternoon and then hopefully having (my favorite) ICE CREAM 🍦 tonight!! It’s been 33 days since I’ve had any (who’s counting lol) so I’m super stoked!! Hoping for a massive MooThru waffle cone with a scoop of strawberry 🍓 & banana 🍌 . Yum!

Anyway, here’s some eye candy for your Monday morning with this vintage dresser that we painted to match my customers other gorgeous white & gold pieces! Such a fresh look! 😍

Seeing double?! I hope so! 👯‍♀️

We were asked to match this table to a pair of antique twin beds 🛏 and I think we nailed it!
💪🏼🎉💃(before pic in the comments)

We used a combo of General Finishes Millstone, Sunglow, and Snow White for the base color, Burnished Pearl Effects for the gold details, a mix of AS Amsterdam Green & Lamp Black for the green details, Van Dyke Brown Glaze Effects over everything for depth and detail, and of course sealed it in HPTC.

Ahhhhh!!! I may not sleep tonight from excitement!! Y’all know I love me some General Finishes products so I entered several of my pieces in their 2018 Design Challenge and one of my pieces WON 2nd place!! 🎉

AND the freaking icing on the cake - out of 2,015 entries we also won the staging category!!! Only 7 entries out of 2,015 were chosen for that honor and we were one of them!!!! 🎉🎉🎉💪🏼💪🏼💪🏼

I am beyond honored to be recognized amongst such a high caliber of fellow artists from across the country. I have to give a huge thank you to the panel of judges who I know had a tough time deciding, and my local GF distributer NOVA Design and Build for always helping me with the perfect products for my projects. Congratulations to my fellow winners!! It’s time to CELEBRATE!! 💃💃🥂🥂

Heyyyyy! We got a shout out from the famous Annie Sloan herself!! How amazing! 🎉🎉

This stunning piece was done by Courtney at Twig & Thyme Design in Virginia. Courtney, inspired by her visit to Versailles in 2016, elegantly combined the softness of Paris Grey Chalk Paint® with the glamour of Bright Gold Gilding Wax to achieve this luxe finish. After painting with Paris Grey and sealing with Clear Wax, Courtney added some Dark Wax on the details for warmth and interest. The floral details, hardware and edges were topped off with gilding wax to really make them shine! Find more of her work here;
